Lessons From the Massachusetts Defeat

"..., Progressive leaders ... need to direct their own frustration at the forces that are defending the status quo and standing in the way of the Obama agenda."

Those forces defending the status quo are the Geinthers, Summers', and Emanuels. The status quo was established when Clintonistas hatched K street and began working lobbyists for campaign$$. The republicans supersized it. And now that the clintonistas are in the Obama administration.... placed by OBAMA - we are reaping what he has sewn.

The old phrase, "physician heal thyself" applies. Does Obama understand that voters no longer expect hope - they expect hard work and results?

No one cares how tough it might be to pass legislation. But you only reinforce an aura of "weakness" and laziness and even complicity when ALL you get from Dem leaders in DC is, "well, shucks, we just don't have the votes."

You don't have the votes? PROVE IT! Get it onto the agenda and let's see! Force filibusters to last thru the holidays! Force legislation thru budget reconciliation! DO SOMETHING!

Obama wants civility with the right wing machine - even as it shreds his rump. We know that they will only obstruct. Why play nice? You deliberately handicap yourself in the process. Been saying this for months!

And taking out my frustration on the repubs or others is silly. I can't effect them. I helped elect Dems to get those "people" addressed properly.

In short, it starts with Obama. Until he changes, expect more "disasters."
