Progressives vs. the President

The image I get from reading your comment is that the president's been taken off his game and stunted in progress due to a lack of cheerleading.

Obama has the most influential pulpit on the planet. As he chooses to neglect it and remain silent on vital issues, opts to avoid conflict, prefers to push Congress to give in to republicans and back off of key positions - he has demoralized the people who vaulted him to the White House.

You incorrectly presume people put away their pom-poms and went to bed. You imply that they're just being lazy. A large - though difficult to quantify - number of those cheerleaders believe they were stabbed in the back. Not so much because he's not some wild-eyed liberal - but because Obama exudes no sense of urgency and no energy. Human beings don't naturally respond with fervor when their "leadership" comes off as weak and asleep and disinterested in addressing their needs.
